Sorella

Another post HSC matinée dinner at Sorella. Very successful dinner for two. After reading the review from two years ago, I realize that we had the same Roasted Pepper Salad [$8] split between us and just as delicious as before. My guest had the Rigatoni Saltimbocca [$20 which was $2 more this year] described below and my taste of it was fine. On the other hand, this time, I had the Rigatoni Vitello [$20] chianti braised veal, veal glace, arrabiata, spinach. Some things just get better with time!

Ate this dinner this late afternoon at Sorella after a wonderful matinée at Hartford Stage Company's 'SOMEWHERE'. Had 5:00 reservations and found they had a Sunday Dinner special. This consisted of any salad, an entrée or pizza and a glass of wine.

Three of us chose that option with the same Roasted Pepper Salad [$8]  of arugula, charred eggplant, pine nuts, garlic aioli. It was delicious and one of the best salads I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. The bread served with it was fresh and warm, the aioli was pungent. The three different pasta choices were: Rigatoni Saltimbocca [$18] ground veal, prosciutto, fresh sage, pecorino cheese, Potato Gnocchi [$18] winter squash, chicken paillard, pancetta, cream and my Chianti Papparadelle [$20] braised veal osso buco ragu. All three dishes were excellent and mine was just luscious. Each also had a glass of Chianti. If you add up the three parts of the meal, you can see the fantastic saving by ordering this $25 masterpiece.

The other diner made a meal of three seafood antipasti [$20]: Shrimp Scampi lemon, garlic, extra virgin olive oil, Manilla Clams lemon, garlic oil and Baccala Salad salt cod, capers, olives, tomato. She also added a serving of Poached Baby Artichokes pecorino, lemon, mint [$6].

blognote: We did not take advantage of the Sunday Supper Special the second time but used our HSC tickets to get 20% off of each entrée.
