G's Steaks and Grinders

Newly opened and sparsely occupied on this summer afternoon but soon all did change at G's Steaks and Grinders. Food was amazing and several runners did come in for a hearty lunch.

The best cheesesteak made to order from a long list on the chalkboard. There are several ideas like the Southwest Steak or the 6AM Steak but I chose to build my own with Provolone cheese, onions, mushrooms and mayo. The steak is shaved fresh ribeye and that sure does make a difference. The sandwich on a real good twelve inch roll made a half for lunch and the other half to go.

Back East Brewing Company

Had some great samples of new local beer from the Back East Brewing Company at Gatsby's Green Light Gala at the Dirt Salon tonight. Tried the Golden Ale and the IPA but didn't get to the Back East Ale. Really like the Golden Ale the best; smooth and full bodied.

Blue Lobster Seafood [CT] update...

Went to Blue Lobster Seafood again today [another Groupon Coupon] to fill up before my transAtlantic flight this evening. No dinner on late flights with Air France!

We both had the Lobster Salad Plate [$10.95] which comes with both coleslaw and potato salad. The lobster came on top of the pile with large pieces of succulent lobster. My comment below about needing more butter on the Lobster Roll now becomes a comment of a little too much mayo in the lobster salad. No, I am not hard to please, just a little picky.

Next time I will try a fried platter like the Large Shrimp or the Sea Scallops.

May 9, 2011

We had a belated Mothers' Day lunch at Blue Lobster Seafood here today. I had a Groupon coupon I had been wanted to use so...there we went.

I had a Groupon Coupon for $20 worth of food [paid $10]. This was not good for the specials [and they looked wonderful] or the lobster dinner. Asked if we would like to sample their chowders, we tasted from New England Clam Chowder, Rhode Island Clam Chowder, Corn Chowder and Lobster Bisque. They were all very tasty but the Rhode Island won out for my choice:
I had the Hot Lobster Roll with a bowl of Rhode Island Clam Chowder [$10.50]. The hot lobster could use just a little more butter [there goes my diet] but it was super. The RI Chowder was the best! My guest had the lunch portion of Fish and Chips [$7.95] with curly fries [someone had just gotten the last order of Sweet Potato fries]. She is the 'Fish and Chips Specialist' and said this was just about the best she had ever had!

blognote: Nicest people, great service and really fresh seafood.

Leventi's [CT]

Lunch today at Leventi's in Columbia with family.

Ordered from Daily Lunch Specials. One Baked Scrod with baked potato and salad [$7.95]. Looked good and was enjoyed. Two Philly Cheese Steak Wraps with Steak Fries and salad. The portions were good sized and the mixture of steak, provolone cheese, onions and peppers was tasty. Have had better but for $5.95 this was a bargain.
