BEARS Smokehouse [food truck visit]

Love the 'Know Good [Food] Market' concept and its second Thursday of the monthsummer series on Bartholomew Street [just off Park].

Never know what to eat with all the food trucks there: Samba's Brazilian Cuisine, Mercado Span-ish Food, and the New Haven Pizza Truck but this time chose Bear's BBQ.

This was the best brisket ever. The sandwich [$8] was chockfull of the tenderest and tastiest brisket with my choice of the sweet barbecue sauce. There was pulled pork or a combo pork/brisket, baked beans and cornbread. Being a purist I just concentrated on this jumbo piece of heaven.

Had a super lunch in the new BEARS Smokehouse on Arch Street next to Arch Street Tavern. Went to see Tao's mural on the outside and then had some good BBQ. There were five of us and we all enjoyed. I chose the SWEET MAMA BEAR’S salad: romaine, cucumber, tomato, red onion, cheese, dried cranberries and candied walnuts with pulled pork for $9.99 and all other meats for $12.99. My salad was covered with Burnt Ends and I used the Texas Pepper bbq sauce instead of salad dressing. It was delicious and the pepper sauce was the perfect level of hot for me!

Everything is served on metal paper-lined trays and that makes it so easy. I had Sasparilla to go with my meal; oh, the memories. We ate upstairs which was toasty warm on a cool day. Service at the counter was a little slow because most people had not read the menu beforehand and queued up at the chalkboard. Would definitely go back.
