Cafe Mangia

Another successful meal at Café Mangia on a cold and wintry day. We had a need for comfort food and found it here! Wish this place wasn't so far from my cottage.

The three of us all ordered pasta dishes: two specials of the day were Carbonara [one with added grilled shrimp] and my Basil Pesto Rigatoni with sweet Italian sausage [$13.90]. The other dishes looked great but mine was super delicious. A nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc [$7.95] added nicely to the meal.

Dessert was a shared order of house made Cannoli [$6.95] for two gargantuan pieces...super.

blognote: Alexandra was our super server.

Went back today and had a super brunch with the same person. Still had a bit of trouble finding it but there we were. This time my guest had the Mangia Salad with an addition of Grilled Salmon [$12.45] and she loved it. Ate every bit! The Mimosa [$7.95] to start made this a memorable meal. I had the Grilled Polenta with sautéed vegetables and a marinara sauce plus I added the Grilled Sweet Italian Sausage. The addition of the protein took it up a notch. The Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc [$7.95] was a nice pour. For dessert we shared the Cannoli plate [$6.95] one for each of us. The shells were a bit tough and she had a bit of difficulty breaking hers up.

Aside from the food, a strength of this establishment as I mentioned in my first review is the service. Kayla was excellent! Mom said the same thing as last visit, 'this is one of the best meals ever' and that makes me happy.

Birthday Brunch today at Cafe Mangia [someone else's birthday!]. The GPS took us for a 'scenic' ride as I did not follow a spoken command. Have passed this place a few times but never really noticed it. Mistake! What a great meal.

Both tried the Corn Chowder [$3.95] and it was fine with bacon and thyme. The birthday girl had the brunch selection of Chicken Marsala [$9.95] over Mushroom Risotto and asparagus. This was labeled delicious. I had a Mediterranean Salad [$13.90] with an interesting white balsamic vinaigrette and added a 4oz. piece of Salmon grilled to perfection and was very pleased. The salad was a little underdressed so added some more of the delicious dressing. The olives were real olives and don't say this sarcastically as I hate canned olives with my feta cheese. We shared an order of Cannoli [$6.95] which consisted of two huge pieces. The shell was much too thick but the filling was very good. The coffee is excellent and very freshly brewed.

The strength of this Cafe is not just the great food but the superb service. We were both very impressed with our servers, especially John. These people truly like what they are doing and it shows! Mom said this was one of the best meals she has had in a long time. I will definitely be back for dinner.
