Three Fellas Pizza & Market

New York pizza has arrived in Marlborough, CT!

'Why did you guys from Brooklyn open in Marlborough?' 'Because there was a rumor that there was no decent pizza here.' Well that rumor no longer exists; this is where it's at!

Newly opened [actually a soft opening] Three Fellas Pizza & Market located right in the center of town has some fantastic 'new york style' pizza and other goodies.

We ordered three thin crust pizzas: large cheese [$13.50], large pepperoni [$16] and a small white cheese [$10]. All were great.
I would order the white pizza again with the addition of extra garlic and one of the many extra toppings [probably eggplant].

They have a full selection of drinks, local cheeses, gourmet grocery items and snacks. I also picked up a package of Bonomi Sfogliatelle [$2.49]. Bagels delivered from the city; wait 'til tomorrow morn!

bloginfo: 4 East Hampton Road [located at the only traffic light in town!] Marlborough, CT 06447
telephone 467.4801/4802 AND they deliver [$15 minimum order]
blognote: My granddaughter wanted to know if she could marry the pizza!

Saybrook Fish House [once again]

Just went back this afternoon for 'early bird' [4 to 5pm]. Had a $45 gift certificate 'won' at the CVOC Gala silent auction. The two meals came to $42.29 so with a little extra for a tip had a great meal.
Usual great bread basket [go pumpernickel!] and big family style salad [those dressings are my downfall; especially mixed together].
Entrées of Scampi over Linguine and my Petite Bouillabaisse with baby scallops, mussels, clams and lobster claw [with a little kick to the broth].
Glass of White Zin and a Land Shark beer.
They wrapped the fruit basket to go and it was added to my breakfast.

2/11/09
Lunch today the The Saybrook Fish House Restaurant in Rocky Hill. I guess there are other locations. This is the one I always use. Today it was the MSG group [Middlesex Genealogical Society] which is a fancy name for 6 people from the gym who want an excuse to go out to lunch. Actually when there were more of us. we did a lot of family history work and shared it at our 'meetings.'

The specials sounded good so three members tried them: Grilled Spiced Salmon with Sweet Potato Fries [$12.95], Jumbo Shrimp stuffed with Crab and wrapped in bacon [$11.95]. The rest of us ordered from the luncheon menu: my Fried Oysters with Fries [$11.95] which had a good number of very fresh, well seasoned oysters; Bay Scallops over brown rice [$9.95] and Grilled Salmon with steamed veggies [$11.95]. All of the above came with Clam Chowder [very thick], Fish Chowder [looked very good] or a side salad [an individual version of the big salad bowl] with the choice of two dressings: creamy Caesar and Champagne Vinaigrette [I mixed them].

Several people ordered a dessert [$6.95 each] or shared one: Coconut Cream Pie, Apple Tart and Banana Bread Pudding. That and a few wines [$5], coffees and a beer [my Stella Artois $3.75].

Good meal, good service, good conversation. Next time, who knows where? I'll let you know.

Butterfly Restaurant

I remember this place as the West Hartford Howard Johnson's [doesn't that date me?].

Good meal here tonight after seeing Sara Ruhl's 'Dead Man's Cellphone' at Theater Works.

Started with an order of steamed pork dumplings [$6.25] six to an order, nicely done with a dipping sauce.
Ordered family style: Peking Duck [$30.95] super tasty with eight pancakes and four drumsticks; ordered when seated so not a long wait.
Baby shrimp with cashews [$11.25], sautéed snow peas, broccoli and string beans [$8.75], Moo Shu pork with an extra pancake to make five [$9.25] which was super delicious.
Brown rice, a couple of Tsingtao beers and fortune cookies and a good meal was had by all!

bloginfo: check out the website and menu here. The waiter wrapped both the Moo Shu pork and the Peking Duck tableside.
blognote: Great live music from the grand piano in the center of the dining room.

Hook and Ladder

Ate lunch here today after MidDay Music at CBC just down the street. Had seen this restaurant and heard good things about it.

We had a good lunch but it 'lost something in the translation'. One entrée of Mrs. O’Leary’s Meatloaf [$9.95]: Meatloaf slices served with a mushroom sauce over [awesome] mashed potatoes & glazed baby carrots.
We ordered two orders of Caesar Salad with 'Marvelous Add-ons' of Calamari and Salmon Burger. We got one order of Fire Boat 2 Fried Calamari [$9.95] with a large Caesar Salad [$6.95] and an East Hampton Co. 3 Salmon Burger [$8.95]: Salmon mixed with seasonal vegetables, rolled in Panko bread crumbs & topped with citrus aioli on a roll with a side salad. BUT the seafood dishes were delicious [especially the salmon burger]. Better to be real specific about your order.

bloginfo: Great website here.
blognote: Good parking [free] at the rear of the restaurant; enter on John Street which runs parallel to Main.
