Sauce [revisited]

Went to Sauce again; for lunch this time. Had a much better meal than the dinner last month [see review below].

Bread on the table with side dishes of sauce [get it, Sauce!] and this was a very nice touch. Also ended up ordering a dish of 'House Chips'; they were the thick home-made kind and very filling.
Entrées:
Grilled Chicken Sandwich with caramelized onions, ripe tomato, fontina, arugula $8.95
Sauce Club of roasted chicken, roast beef, prosciutto, provolone, peppers, tomato and baby greens $10.95
Three Cheese Individual Pizza with parmesan, fontina, provolone, san marzano tomatoes, fresh basil $9.95
and my Lemon Basil Chicken Salad Panini with ripe tomatoes and baby greens $7.95

bloginfo: all sandwiches and panini come with a Pasta Salad or Chips. The pasta salad was exceptional for a side and included a portion of Field Greens also. Both were drizzled with a well seasoned dressing.

blognote: Service was good and the improvement in the dining experience over last time will definitely make me return!

April 27, 2008
After Theater Works' production of 'Blackbird' we went to Sauce in Glastonbury. I had been wanting to go there for quite a while. This afternoon, a fund raiser was just finishing up so it was quite noisy even though they sat us in the farthest corner possible.

Started outside on the terrace with a Campari and Soda [too much soda]. The others had some good wines: Chardonnay Cantele and Chianti Borga.

We split salads for appetizers: Baby Spinach with sun dried tomato vinaigrette, polenta crouton, goat cheese {$8.50] and a Sicilian Wedge of crisp iceberg lettuce, grape tomatoes, creamy garlic gorzonola and bacon chips [$7.95]. Good focaccio and bread to start with roasted tomato sauce [we asked for olive oil]

Entrées: Wild Mushroom Gnocchi: roasted wild mushrooms and braised butter leeks, tossed with potato gnocchi, chives and truffle oil [$18.95]; Sauce Bolognese: beef, pork and veal bolognese served with over-sized rigatoni, topped with fresh ricotta and parmesan [$19.95]; Broccoli Rabe & Sausage: sweet sausage, sautéed broccoli rabe, tossed with garlic. olive oil and orecchiette [$16.95]. My entrée was Gorgonzola Bucatini: sautéed chicken, prosciutto, sweet onions, broccoli tossed with bucatini [$19.95].

Dessert menu looked interesting but skipped that course.

bloginfo: Sauce is located on Hebron Avenue, Glastonbury, CT. Telephone 430.5940
Website: sauce
blofnote: while everyhing was prepared fresh and tasted delicious, nothing was truly special
I might try their Ciccchetti [small plates] with wine another time
