The HAVEN Restaurant

My seasonal visit to Jacob's Pillow will always include dinner at The Haven restaurant under the tent. The setting can't be beat and neither can the service. We split a small order [2] of Duck Buns [$16] which were the perfect start to a great evening and a way to slowly peruse the menu. A glass of Albariño Sauvignon Blanc [#11] helped also. We split a Field Greens salad with a light citrusy dressing that helped get our palates for the main course. Never having had a sous vide preparation, we opted for the Rib Eye [$34] with grilled asparagus and Parmesan cheese puffs. The meat, medium rare, was tender and full of flavor, the included asparagus were fine while the cheese puffs, delicious, were a little heavy for the plate. We added a side of Wild Mushrooms [$8] and they were so good! I changed to a Nieto, Mendoza Pinot Noir [$9] to accompany this course. The dessert, a flight of Haven cakes [$9], was rich and plentiful. The favorite was the ginger/apricot bar.

The HAVEN Restaurant at Jacob's Pillow has always been sitting there under the tent enticing me to enter and I finally did. What a fantastic meal! We were there for full day adventure and had a light lunch of salad with Norwegian salmon saw two performance [matinée and evening], viewed rehearsal of youth class for In/Out performance and attended a talk by new Director Pamela Tatge. Dinner reservations were for 5pm and the room was packed.

We started with the daily Crepe starter [$14] of spinach, brie and parmesan cheeses. This was a delicious and telling start to a great meal.

For entrée I ordered a special of Pork Chop and grilled peach half over an arugula salad dressed with a peach vinaigrette. Super! moist, juicy and flavorful!

The other diner had the Filet Mignon [$35] pan seared medium rare with  a rosemary port wine sauce, grilled asparagus, and potato gratin. I 'stole' a bite of the potato gratin and it was delicious.

One dessert was the Chocolate Torte and mine was a Cake Sampler of which the Peanut Butter portion was the favorite.
