Saw the CND2 Dance Company today at a matinée at Jacob's Pillow in Becket, Massachusetts in the Berkshires.
Ate lunch at The Pillow Pub before the performance. Nice menu; I had the Moo Shu Duck wrap [$15] which was filled with duck breast, hoisin sauce, napa cabbage and shredded carrots. Delicious!

New England Pizza [CT]
Dinner tonight at New England Pizza & Restaurant in North Windham. Went there with family and ate in a nice family run place. Good vibes, good food and good service.
I had the Eggplant Parm and what a delight that was. Pasta on the side [as it should be] with a house salad and garlic bread. This was one on the specials of the night [$10.95]. Another order of the same, a Chicken Parm and Ziti with sauce on the side made up the total food intake for our table of four.
bloginfo: They are located in a strip of businesses at 319 Boston Post Road, North Windham, CT 06256
and phone is 860.456.8770
blognote: Our excellent waitress was from Puerto Rico so we had to share island details. She sure has the room under control.

Baci Grill [CT]
It's Lobster Mania at Baci Grill in Cromwell and the menu is online here.
Four of us ate here this afternoon after the Concora Concert in Berlin; two singers and two listeners. We ate in the bar.
We started with a pitcher of white Sangría [$17] which was good and refreshing but nothing lives up to the cava sangría in Barcelona [I had to get that in here, didn't I?]. Then there were 2 orders of Lobster Salad [$14] and two of the Lobster Po'boy [$16]. The lobster salads were traditional in make up with the addition of avocado and plantain chips. The po'boys were a stack of fried lobster meat on a chopped salad on a whole toasted pita on a bed of sweet potato fries. Oh yeah! The dressing on both had a real kick to it; maybe a bit much for some.
bloginfo: Scott W. is a great waiter. Took really good care of us.
blognote: I have always had good luck here at Baci's and it's so close to home.

Shady Glen [CT]
It is true, unfortunately, that the cheese does not live up to the 'hype' anymore. Same cheese but the cows eat southern grass now [according to The Hartford Courant's Java column (Saturday July 24, 2010) and not northern grass [or vice versa!].
Better get back to the original! I noticed the difference today and they are very worried about it. There were even explanations at every booth.

Lemon Twist [FL]
Looking for a nice quiet easy meal after a grueling night at the restaurant, we wandered into Lemon Twist. Well, going to a French bistro the eve of Bastille Day made for a much more exciting evening. Loud, French karaoke and every Francophile in Miami took away the quiet from our search but we had good food.
We started with four Newcastle beers [$6] but were charged for one. Then three Chardonnay for them [$5 each].
Entreés were Escargots de Bourgogne [$9.50], Assiette Charcuterie [$12] and my Salade au Chevre Chaud [$12].
Plats: Soupe a l'Oignon Gratinée [$7.50], Canard a l'Orange [$26] and my Moules et Frites [$18.50].
Everything was very good bistro food and the kitchen kept up with the crowd.

cuban coffee [CUBA]
The best cup of Cuban coffee I had during my week in Havana was at the Partagas Cigar Factory.
We sat in the lounge while the group took the tour. Big leather armchairs and the best 'cortadito' [espresso with a shot of milk] that I have ever had. Was it the setting, the company or the coffee?
blognote: The cigar factory is located on the street right behind the Capitol building. The half hour tour is 10 CUC [$12] and no photos allowed.

Four Seasons Brunch [FL]
July 4th we celebrated Independence Day and my leaving for Cuba at the Four Seasons for Brunch on Brickell in Miami.
This blog entry could never do justice to the meal. Needless to say it was magnificent and the $70 tab was worth it. The Roasted Suckling Pig and the Mojitos were memorable as was the room filled with desserts.
