Cora Cora

As you can see, it's been a long time since my last visit to Cora Cora. The original intention was to go to SHU across the parking lot but it was full tonight. This turned out to be a good problem! I had the Chicharrones de Pescado [$12.95] with the delicious Onion Salad and I chose the Yuca Fries over the French Fries. We split the Crema Volteada for dessert. Always a great meal here with fast service with a smile. The place was packed with many happy diners. It won't be long before I go back!April 5, 2013

Knew I had to go back to Cora Cora after the great NYT review [see hyperlink below]. Started with an order of Shrimp and Fish Sebiche [$14.75] and was as good as I remembered it from last time. Tried the Tacos de Lomo Saltado as reported in the review and they were great. Even spread some of the guacamole on them to further sweeten the deal.

Tamal Peruano
The Tamal de Pollo Peruano was drier than the tamales that I am used do but good. The Cau Cau de Mariscos [$15.99] next to me looked wonderful and was pronounced delicious.

Great review in today's New York Times Metropolitan section. Read it here!

Tried my first Groupon Coupon at Cora Cora in West Hartford.

Had eaten here before and liked it  and came back armed with my $20 for $10 coupon.

Had a good meal from the roasted corn 'amuse bouche' to the coffee to end the meal. We had two entrées and shared.
Ceviche Mixto: Octopus, mussels and clams marinated with freshly squeezed lime juice with onions and cilantro, and garnished with toasted Peruvian corn and sweet potato served over a bed of lettuce. [$13.50] and a Chicken/Potato Stew with a catchy name that didn't catch. This dish is not on their menu on the website. Check that out here. The menu in the restaurant has much more to choose from.

The ceviche, ordered mild, was great; fresh and tangy. The stew was a little bland but offset the ceviche which I would order a bit more spicy next time. The coffee was served in huge cups and good and strong. A very nice meal [especially with the $10 off.]

bloginfo: Restaurant is on Shield Street and the GPS tries to get you there the long way around. It is actually just off New Britain Avenue next to A Dong Market and Pho Boston.
blognote: I will research the name of the stew and update the blog even if it means eating there again soon!
