j. gilbert's

j. gilbert's tonight for a birthday meal [not mine however].
They really need someone to jazz up the menu details. The food far exceeds the description.

For example: one of the two featured dinner selections was Pan Seared Nantucket "Sugar Drop" Scallops served with roasted butternut squash and celery root hash with chorizo sautéed asparagus and chanterelle mushrooms finished with a lemon-thyme beurre blanc. This could just have easily said that this dish is the most delicious thing being served tonight bar none...and it was and it was what I ordered. Yes! [$28.50] I ordered a glass of Chilean reserve Sauvignon Blanc [$7.50] and a perfect match.

The three of us each started with the requisite Shrimp Cocktail which is also the best shrimp cocktail served anywhere in northern hemishpere [$13.95] Also great sourdough bread and whipped butter.

The other two entrées were the Filet Oscar [$29.95] and the 10oz Top Sirloin with Salt Potato [$22.50].
One dessert the Almond Tuile Cannoli [$7] and a Cappuccino [$3.95].
