PEI Food

The food highlights of my Prince Edward Island trip were:

Mussels, mussels and more PEI mussels!

Stanley Bridge Resort: blueberry salad dressing, sweet savory in the turkey stuffing, seafood chowder, Acadian baked beans, fruit stuffed rolled roast of pork

Atlantic Superstore in Summerside: potted chicken and beef sandwiches on great bread, mussels

Long River Women's Institute at Springbrook Hall: wild blueberry cheesecake, pickled this and that and piccalilli

The Home Place: Malpeque oysters, blueberry cake with lemon sauce and cream

Chez Yvonne: toasted homemade wheat bread

Maplethorpe Inn: Organic Lunch of mushroom soup, spinach salad with raspberries, tarragon chicken breast, bread pudding

Dalvay by the Sea in the National Park: sticky date pudding

New Glasgow Lobster Suppers: mussels and the rolls

and the HIGH highlight: a 'private' oyster tasting outside the L&C Fisheries with a local oysterman wanting an 'away' opinion. This was while the rest of the group was listening to a talk.

bloginfo: This all occurred during my 'Culture and Cuisine of PEI' Elderhostel trip
