Had an exquisite brunch outside at Millwright's on Sunday. It was a three course prix fixe and well worth every penny [or dollar]. The three of us ate in our private little 'greenhouse' with a view of the waterfall. This made our meal that much more safe and pleasureful.
We started with a Mimosa, Bloody Mary and a bottle of sparkling water [because of my meds I wasn't able to indulge in any alcohol!]. I chose a French Press coffee. The first course consisted of three parts all delivered in a gingham nested baskets. The Mini Parfait of yogurt, granola and raspberry preserves was just the right taste to start our bountiful mea. This was followed by a Vol au Vent resembling an Everything Bagel filled with smoked salmon. A Banana Muffin completed this trio even though it was not mentioned on the menu.
The next attraction was a beautiful Spring Vegetable Crudité served on ice. This consisted of Thumbelina Carrots, Asparagus, Radishes, Turnips all ready to dip into a savory Yuzu-herb Yogurt Dip. Delicious!
The four entrées listed were all great choices with the Crab/Lobster Cake Benedict and Pork Carnitas Hash quickly ordered and enjoyed by my guests. I really wanted the Tenderloin and Eggs but knew with my latest affliction of a fractured humerus would make this a difficult eat. No problem! The chef cut up the medium-rare steak and combined it with two poached eggs and sweet potato hash to make a very easy to eat melt-in-your-mouth dish.
Two of us chose the Pear Cake while the winner seemed to be Lemon Meringue Tart with toasted meringue! Several other French Press coffees rounded out the meal. This was one of the best restaurant outings in a long while.
