Had lunch today at The Charles in Old Wethersfield. Not difficult to find but was difficult to find a place to park. The website says use the Wethersfield Fire Department parking lot but everything was blocked off. No street parking nearby. Also entry is up a long flight of concrete stairs which was difficulty for one member of our party. We were escorted out the back by the kitchen after our meal to a very nice ramp which did the trick. [New signage has been added]. I don't usually rant about these things but you have to get there easily to be able to eat. We could have eaten under the tent but wanted enjoy the historicity of the room.
Let's talk about the food. The Chicken BLT was quite good with buttermilk fried chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, herb aioli, house pickles and pommes frites. The Charlie Burger was good but came Medium not Medium Rare and the potato salad with the Prime Rib Baguette had so much horseradish it burned your mouth. Nice room, good service but someone needs to check what's coming out of the kitchen.
