It's been a long time since I have eaten at the
East Side Restaurant. So after we visited the NBMAA for the Toulouse Lautrec exhibit we stopped in. I guess that is really mixing cultures but the food was quite good. Sitting next to the fireplace on such a cold day was wonderful.

We started with an appetizer of Marinated Herring [$7] and it was super. Included there was also the Horseradished Cottage Cheese, Rye Bread and the Coleslaw. The first entrée was Sauerbraten [$14] with Potato Pancakes. The recipe here is a little different from what we are used to with lighter cut of meat and a sour cream gravy and red cabbage. My entrée was German Pot Roast [$14] with a rich brown gravy, Potato Pancakes and Red Cabbage. This was rich and delicious. I liked the Sauerbraten more than the guest who ordered it so we shared and we each had some of both!
