Early dinner at BECCO with reservation at 4 as the play GARY was a no intermission 90 minute show.
Started at the bar with Negroni and Blood Orange Martini, both NYC expensive!
Because of Lydia Bastianach pasta fame, we were there for ta-dah the pasta. The Sinfonia di Paste [$25.95] was our choice. The bread assortment was fine and the spread delicious along with the best olives. Started with the Antipasto Misto not the Caesar Salad. This was an assortment of marinated and grilled vegetables with seafood [octopus salad and a bite of skate with romesco] or burrata with honey and peas. The three pastas were Spaghetti with red sauce and basil, Orrecchiette with pancetta and cabbage and Gnocchi Sicilian style with a white cheese sauce. They were ranked in the opposite order as listed above. Gnocchi were unlike anything before with semolina and a seared crust making them look like scallops - superbly delicious. The servers came around the room with their large pans of pasta so it was all you could eat!
blognote: huge place but reservations a must
