Angellino's

Ate at Angellino's in Mansfield today. We had a very nice lunch. Started with a basket of good White Bread, Focaccio and a cup of Roasted Garlic.
I started with the Special Soup of the Day: Lentil. This was more like a beef vegetable soup with lentils rather than the traditional Lentil Soup but it was very fresh and tasty.
Three entrées: Mini-dinner portion of Bay Scallops over Spaghettini, Roast Pork with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy [which was raved about] and Spinach.
My entrée was 'Johnny's Bleu Steak': Sliced roast sirloin, roasted peppers, red onions, lettuce and Gorgonzola cheese laced with balsamic vinaigrette on grilled Italian bread. This was terrific [and only $7.99] and served with a choice of House Fries or Vegetable Pasta Salad [I had the pasta salad].

City Fish

Advertising pays off! Because of the ad in this morning's newspaper, I changed my mind about eating at Red Lobster to City Fish. Not a great move.

Even though there is a November special of 'buy a dinner and get the second one for half price,' It wasn't such a special dinner. The 7 shrimp in the 6 Shrimp Cocktail [$5.99] were good size and fresh, the cocktail sauce was watery and real spicy [horseradish]. The Clam Chowder [substituted for fries] was excellent with large pieces of clam in a rich broth. The Lobster Roll [the reason I went there ($14.99)] was a big disappointment. The lobster consisted of shreds of lobster, no pieces at all. It was like they used the same preparation for both the hot and cold lobster salad roll.

We ate in the new dining room. You still order at the take-out counter and carry your order into the dining room. It's kind of a lame attempt to be a restaurant. I guess you can buy there also.

Next time I will get the scallop dinner [$10.99] as it looked terrific at an adjacent table while the whole belly clams [$12.99] looked good also.
